Ant
Ant body structure
Ants number approximately 16,000 species of insects that are social and live together in organized colonies. Ants are found all over the world, but are especially common in hot climates. Their size ranges from 2 to 25 mm. Their color is usually yellow, brown, red or black.
A HEAD
Typically, the ant has a large, strongly developed head. It is often covered with hair. The mandibles, which are the main organ of the mouthparts, are particularly well developed. They have eyes and ocelli. There are three of them forming an inverted triangle. They basically work like light sensors.
Ants have inhabited the earth for 150 million years. Since then, their appearance has changed many times. SP Rostarzewo
Ant
This central part of the body. It is holds legs , wings and abdomen. The thorax is the chest area of an insect (including ants). Is divided into three segments; on each segment is a pair of legs. The thorax contains the muscles that make the legs move. SP6 Gniezno
Abdomen: contains the stomach, a special place called the crop where the ant stores extra food, the intestines and the poison gland. It is protected by an exoskeleton . Exoskeleton: Ants have a skeleton on the outside of their body, not on the inside. They don't have skin like we do. The exoskeleton consists of a material very similar to our fingernails. The exoskeleton protects the ant almost as if it were wearing heavy armor! SP3 Koźmin Wlkp.
